Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, (RNT) is working with Moffatt & Nicol and Civitas to design a new pier for the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Diego. Though it’s beloved by the community, the current pier is 58 years old and has closed to the public due to structural and safety concerns.

The new design was crafted based on several rounds of community feedback sessions and includes a surfer’s lounge, designated areas for fishing, a new restaurant, cafe, and gift shop, an elevated horizon walk, an an infinity plaza perfect for watching sunsets. A variety of seating options and planters will also be integrated along the entire pier.
