Nora Avilez

I was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. I am an only child. Growing up, I spent a lot of time playing in the backyard with my dogs and hanging out with my friends in the neighborhood. I also enjoyed doing gymnastics. 

My dad is an economist, and my mom is an elementary school teacher. When I was doing my homework, I would often study in my dad’s library. He had tons of books, magazines, and newspapers about economics, politics, and literature. Being surrounded by all those books sparked my interest in economics, so I decided to study Economics at the University of Baja California, where I earned my bachelor’s degree. 

After I graduated, I worked for a few years in Mexico at the same university where I studied. 

When I was 22, I started working in the United States. Over the years, I have worked in different areas, including administration, finance, academics, and sales. I still live in Mexico, so crossing the border is a normal part of my everyday life. 

In my free time, I enjoy going to the movies, going out to eat, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time and enjoying life with my husband and children.
