Catherine Young

Associate

Catherine was raised in Ventura County, spending summers and weekends at the beach or playing in the fields near home. Inspired by her Aunt, Catherine showed an early aptitude for the arts but equally enjoyed making things in her Dad’s machine shop. After trying everything from graphic design to welding, Catherine finally discovered the discipline of architecture. A quick detour through Sonoma State University earned her a BS in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Building Energy Management and Design and a green thumb before graduating from the University of Oregon with her M.ARCH in 2008. Catherine chose the U of O for its deep commitment to bringing built and natural environments into balance, but also came out an undying Ducks fan. (Go Ducks!) Her work at RNT is focused on pushing the envelope of green building and she is involved with the Ventura chapter of the USGBC. Catherine enjoys outdoor pursuits, gardening, yoga, playing in the local orchestra as well as spending time with her husband and young daughters.
