Client: San Ysidro School District

Location: San Diego, California

RNT is part of the Design-Build team under, Barnhart Reese Construction, that was selected for the new Beyer Community Education Resource Center for San Ysidro School District. This new community center will serve cultural, educational, and community needs. The 12,027 Square Foot facility includes a multi-purpose room, conference rooms, offices, a health center, staging kitchen, an outdoor event area, and sports courts. One of the district's major goals with this project is to make the building inviting to the community while maintaining a high level of security and safety. RNT's design meets that challenge with the use of a well-placed entry gateway that houses the service yards. Our building is influenced by some of San Ysidro’s historical buildings such as El Toreador Hotel and the old San Ysidro Public Library. The architecture of the building integrates Spanish Colonial design features such as arcades, and a tower that anchors the urban corner, while incorporating artisan ceramic tiles as an accent. A unique feature will be the Community Patio that will provide expansive views of the City of Tijuana and the Tijuana Estuary as it leads to the Pacific Ocean.
