The purpose of the project was to study a four-mile stretch of the historic El Cajon Boulevard in the Mid-City area of San Diego. The project team's goals were to develop guidelines and locate development opportunities to revitalize this diverse boulevard as a primary focus in the Mid-City area. Development issues for the project included encouraging pedestrian activity, generating employment, connecting established neighborhoods and increasing building densities. This project received an AIA Citation Award in 1995.
