The 12,000 SF addition to the San Diego High School campus includes a two-story building consisting of 11 classrooms, 2 rest rooms, and a teacher’s lounge. The new building is organized along an axis that establishes a diagonal pedestrian path through the landscape, connecting major elements of the campus. The overall character of the project makes reference to the images of flight with roofs shaped like aircraft wings. The project received an A.I.A. Citation Award in 1995 and an AIA/NCMA Award of Design Excellence in 1996.
