Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects
was the Design Architect for this 9,500 SF Teleconference
Center, located at San Diego City College. The Center has
three classrooms, a conference and teleconference room, faculty
development office, kitchen, control rooms, and an art gallery.
A tower houses the service functions and helps to define the
campus's main entry. In addition, a sculptural staircase with
its axis aligned towards downtown San Diego acts as a welcoming
gesture to this point of entry. Finally, an art gallery, with
an east facing glass facade, serves as a lighted beacon at
night. This project won the 2002 AIA Design Award for Best
Higher Education Design.
