Lisa Gelfand
Principal
Lisa Gelfand discovered architecture
while drawing flower pots as a diversion from her English
major. Confused, she decided to take a year off from
college and travel to Africa. There, she designed school
rooms and clinics that were to be built by villagers
in the mountains of Lesotho. Lisa returned home with
a new wealth of knowledge and enrolled in architecture
school. She remains inspired by the infinite variety
of architectural problems, her dedicated and hard working
clients, and the sensory delights of materials, fresh
air, and sunlight. Outside of work, Lisa has two fascinating
sons, a cabin in the Sierras where she skis, hikes,
and chops wood, and a compulsion to revisit her English
major roots through reading and writing poetry.
